Intelligence tests and feats with parrots

The parrot show lasts between 45 and 60 minutes. Intelligence tests and feats are in alternating sequence.

The performances are instructive, amusing and let the audience participate. They are aimed at adults and children from about 8 years. Younger children barely understand the difficulties of intelligence tests. The recognition of colours, shapes and numbers seems too easy for them.

It is however possible to work out different and shorter programs for children's performances with funny tricks like roller-skating, slide, tricycle, skateboarding, basketball, etc.

Correction of twelve errors produced by a spectator!

(A spectator puts for example the red stone on the brown field, the yellow stone on the green field and the white stone on the orange field. The parrot corrects all errors – no faking!)

Recognizing numbers from 1 to 6

The parrot regognizes the number of points stuck by a spectator on a black board in front of him and raises the corresponding plate (no faking! - no "Clever Hans“ effect!).

The parrot and the spectators must memorize the seven colors of seven different shapes.

The coloured shapes are withdrawn out of sight - here under the table.
The parrot poses the seven coloured pawns on the corresponding gray forms (no faking!).

Cockatoo against Macaw

Ten red balls and ten blue balls are on the playing field.
The cockatoo collects the red balls and puts them into the red basket, the macaw does the same with the blue balls.

A coin is put under one of three small shells.

A spectator mixes up the three shells. The parrot finds the coin immediately and throws it in a piggy bank.

Mark Steiger’s parrots always perform "live". The conditions are sometimes difficult: open air, from spectators surrounded, bad lighting conditions, loud music and different appearance times.

Sometimes the parrots perform before a public, which consists of only few children or adults (children and private parties), sometimes on stages in front of hundreds of spectators. Marks Steiger’s parrots solved intelligence tests live in TV before several millions spectators.

These abilities differentiate them from other "parrot wonders", who always show their achievements only under ideal conditions in laboratories or in the same environment, to whom they are accustomed!
